  • Wigan Council's town-centre car parks are free at weekends and free after 3pm on weekdays, so for a job near the centre Harrogate Street, the Water Street multi-storey or Mona Street are usually the easiest place to leave the van. Note your nearest one in the quote.
  • The two stations, Wallgate and North Western, sit a hundred yards apart on the southern edge of the centre, and the roads around them and up Wallgate stay busy through the day. With the long-running town-centre redevelopment closing and narrowing streets in phases, an earlier slot gets the van closer to the door.
  • Close-in stock is dense Victorian and ex-pit and mill terraces with the front door straight onto the pavement and a rear entry down a back alley, so say whether we load from the front or the entry. Out toward Standish, Orrell and the newer estates most houses have a driveway, so mention which you are plus floor and key handover for an empty property.

Common problems

Typical cleaning issues in Wigan

  • Wigan water is soft, off the United Utilities supply, so limescale is rarely the problem it is down south. The work in the older terrace kitchens is built-up grease behind the hob and on splashbacks, plus general dust and wear, rather than scaled-up taps and screens.
  • The flat mossland west of the town sits low and wet, and a lot of the old terraces are solid-walled, so damp comes with the territory. Black-spot mould gathers on bathroom sealant, around window reveals and on cold external walls. We clean it back and note the condition, we do not treat the damp itself.
  • The post-war and ex-council semis around the edge of town often have older kitchens with built-up oven grease, plus carpeted stairs and bedrooms with traffic-lane wear. On end-of-tenancy jobs it is worth pricing the oven and the carpets in from the start.

Wigan house, no issues

3-bed, two years. Hallway carpets steam-cleaned. You could see the difference. Landlord said nothing about it at checkout.

Kenny D. · Wigan · 8 weeks ago

Decent end of tenancy

Two-bed terrace, 18 months. Quote was clear, no surprises on the day. The clean was good, oven like new. They ran about an hour over but stayed to finish properly. Deposit returned.

First time using cleaners for this

Never paid for an end of tenancy clean before, always done it myself. Wish I'd done it sooner. Three-bed, done in an afternoon, agent didn't raise one thing.
