Use this list to clean to the standard a check-out inventory expects, so your deposit comes back. Work top to bottom, room by room, and leave the kitchen and bathrooms until last as they take the most time.

Kitchen
- Oven, hob, extractor and filter degreased (if booked)
- Worktops, splashbacks and cupboard fronts wiped
- Inside cupboards and drawers (emptied first)
- Sink and taps descaled and polished
- Fridge and freezer cleaned (defrosted 24 hours before)
- Washing machine drawer, seal and filter
- Microwave inside and out
- Tiles and grout cleaned
- Floor washed, including behind and under appliances that move
Bathrooms and toilets
- Bath, shower and screen descaled
- Tiles and grout cleaned
- Toilet cleaned and sanitised, including behind and the base
- Sink, taps and fittings descaled
- Mirror and glass polished
- Extractor vent and reachable ledges dusted
- Cabinets wiped inside and out
- Floor washed, edges and corners included
Bedrooms and living areas
- Dust all surfaces, shelves and skirting boards
- Wardrobes and drawers wiped inside (emptied first)
- Doors, frames, handles and light switches
- Radiators and behind them where reachable
- Internal windows, sills and ledges
- Cobwebs removed from corners and ceilings
- Carpets vacuumed; hard floors mopped
Hallway, stairs and entrance
- Banisters, handrails and spindles
- Light fittings and switches
- Skirting boards and steps
- Front and internal doors wiped
- Floors vacuumed and mopped
Final checks before handover
- Bins emptied and cleaned, inside and out
- Marks and scuffs spot-cleaned from walls
- Light bulbs working (note any that are out)
- Meter readings taken and noted
- Keys, fobs and any handover notes ready
